The NEED: There is a significant learning curve to .NET programming. WCE helps slightly flatten that curve in the area of Web.Config files. Web.Config files are XML files storing literally dozens of configuration settings pertinent to ASP.NET and the .NET engine. Multiple web.config files are applied to subweb configurations in a hierarchically inherited manner such that child .config files can supercede parent configuration settings. A byproduct of this wonderfully flexible architecture is complexity.

The Solution: Hunter Stone's WCE (Web.Config XML Editor and Composite XML Viewer) is a programmer's and administrator's tool for modifying Web.Config XML files. WCE provides a full GUI interface where parameters have been predefined in drop-down lists, tables, option buttons, etc. WCE also has a very powerful Composite Viewer which melds multiple hierarchically inherited .config XML files into a single view representing the full cadre of current settings for the target subweb.

I just hated this thing, It totally trashed my web.config file (I backed it up first). Seems like it would be a great product, but it jumbles all the code, it adds stuff with no way to remove, just more of a pain than anything....
